August is here, in all its golden and nostalgic glory. Still at home for the foreseeable future, I’m enjoying the sunlit summer days and ocean evenings and time with family and friends. Even though this month snuck up on me, today we’re going to plan the last month of the summer. Grab your journal and get ready to plan with me for August 2020!
Journal
If you’ve been around a while, you know I love journaling. I usually fill a classic Moleskine journal once every 6-12 months.
Each monthly spread is usually pretty consistent. On the first page, I draw out a monthly spread, a quote, and a vision board to set the tone for the month. On the second page, I leave space for favorite memories, a reading list, and a playlist of favorite songs.
Planner
My planner system is pretty simple, now that I’m out of college. I write down my for-sure plans in ink, tentative plans in pencil, and daily tasks on post-it notes.
This month, I’ll be spending a lot of time with family and friends, but also creating space for artistic endeavors like photography, video editing, and reading. Over the summer, I’ve been writing a lot—working on a draft of a novel, keeping up my journal, and scribbling some essays here and there. I’m also challenging myself to write a poem every day for the month of August.
“Some days in late August at home are like this, the air thin and eager like this, with something in it sad and nostalgic and familiar…”
—William Faulkner
Thanks for joining me to plan August 2020! I’ll catch you in next Friday’s post.
